RUSE ENTRY
On the afternoon of Dec. 10, a man claiming to work for “the water department” approached a home on the 1400 block of Carol Street and told a 73-year-old man that he needed to check his water. According to police, the resident accompanied the visitor to a bathroom, where he closed the door and turned on the water. When the resident asked the man for his credentials, the man reportedly left the house through the front door. It was not known at the time of the report if anything was taken from the residence, police said.
BURGLARY TO VEHICLE
Tools were stolen between Dec. 8 and Dec. 10 from a van parked on the 800 block of Wilkinson Parkway. Driver’s side locks were reportedly punched out to gain entry.
PROPERTY DAMAGE
A boy, 14 or 15 years old, was reportedly seen punching and breaking two side mirrors on a vehicle parked in an alley behind the 700 block of South Chester Avenue on the night of Dec. 6. The boy, along with another teen, then allegedly ran south down the alley.
A glass bottle was used to break the rear window of a vehicle parked on the 900 block of South Seminary Avenue between midnight and 5:30 a.m., Dec. 6.
Four strands of Christmas lights were cut on Dec. 6 or Dec. 7 outside a home on the 1000 block of South Washington Avenue.
THEFT
On the night of Dec. 8, six men between 18 and 25 years old allegedly fled a store on the 2600 block of Dempster Street with an unknown number of liquor bottles. They were last seen getting into a car and fleeing west on Dempster.
Inflatable Christmas decorations and yard lights were stolen overnight between Dec. 10 and Dec. 11 from outside a home on the 600 block of South Lincoln Avenue.
